It's Party Time! and tickets are selling fast...

Please come and join us to mark the 68th birthday of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at a reception on Thursday 20th June, 2013 in the delightful surrounds of Petyt Hall in Chelsea. Every two years Prospect Burma hosts a Summer Event to raise funds to support our work in providing a university education to Burmese students - all of whom commit to return to Burma with their new found skills when possible - to help shape the future of their country. Despite all the exciting changes in Burma that are taking place in Burma, and even with the best will in the world, it will be many years before the country can provide a decent university education to her students, and yet Burma is crying out for skilled graduates right now. The educational support our donors enable us to carry out is more urgent than ever, and we are endorsed by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who provides funds for our work from her Nobel Peace Prize.

Mirian Margolyes has graciously agreed to be our Guest of Honor and Celebrity Auctioneer and we are inviting you to an evening of wine and Asian fusion canapes, an auction, a bookstall and a crafts stall, a chance to meet our students, updates on Burma, and the work of Prospect Burma. This year is our 24th anniversary and we are delighted to welcome three tour operators to the event who will be able to answer all your questions on travel to Burma. They are Audley Travel, Mountain Kingdoms and Trans Indus and we are grateful to them for their support. The event takes place at Petyt Hall, 64 Cheyne Walk, London SW3 5LT on Thurssday 20th June from 6 to 8.30 pm. There are only a limited number of tickets and they are selling fast so please reserve your place as soon as possible. Tickets for a donation of £40 a head are available by sending cheques and a stamped addressed envelope to Elizabeth Bluck, Prospect Burma, Porters' Lodge, Rivermead Court, Ranelagh Gardens, London SW6 3SF. Please remember to bring cash or a chequebook on the night as we are unable to process debit or credit cards.

Mountain Kingdoms' clients are offered a facility to donate to Prospect Burma on their return, and we have received many generous donations from them. Thank you.

A million thank yous to all our generous supporters who have matched donations or just sent in their own to raise money for the Pat Gore-Booth Scholarship Fund. We have now raised over £30,000! Lady Gore-Booth, who had been involved with Prospect Burma from its beginning in 1989, and was Vice-Patron, died in February 2012, aged 90. The Pat Gore-Booth memorial scholarships were initiated by one of PB's staff donating their fee for the month, and since then more contributions have come in from Trustees, staff, her family, friends and supporters. To read more about the fund, download our Summer 2012 newsletter: Summer Newsletter 2012.
