We don't know what will happen in Burma tomorrow, but it is important that we are ready for change and transition when it takes place.

Therefore I want to be part of the struggle to build a more peaceful and just society, and use the skills I have gained to benefit the country as a whole.

The Festival is pleased to announce the presentation of the inaugural Yoma FMI Short Story Prize. The competition is now open. We invite stories from any young Burmese up to 25 years old. Interested students should submit a fictional story based on the theme of ‘Changing Lives’, not exceeding 2,000 words. There will be two awards of $1,000 – one for the best story written in English, one for the best story written in Burmese.
