SUMMER EVENT RAISES OVER £20,000

Maureen Lipman CBE Guest of HonourProspect Burma's Summer Event held in June 2011, raised over £20,000 to support the education of Burmese students. Maureen Lipman CBE was Guest of Honour and relayed a message sent especially for the event by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Viscount Slim read out a message of support from HRH The Prince of Wales, and Dr Sasa spoke on behalf of all Prospect Burma students about the impact education has had on his life.  Tina Blick provided magnificent canapes and PB alumnus, Joshua Htet, put together a Burmese band to provide the entertainment.  The fundraiser, held to mark PBs 22nd anniversary and the 66th birthday of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on June 19th, was held at Bloomsbury Auctions in Mayfair. The event included a part live and part silent auction and a table top draw.  The week before the party, the raffle was drawn and the lucky winner of the first prize of a week's holiday in Hong Kong courtesy of Cathay Pacific and The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong was announced.
